Our Aim

The decision to breed a particulary dog comes on one hand out of love for those dogs but on the other hand means a lot of responsibility for the continuancy of the particular race.

We fell in love with the Boerboel because of its character, its appearance and its history

Regarding the history of the Boerboel we like to refere you to the homepage of Mr Rudi Kainer of Bavarian Boerboel, whom we work closely together.

http://www.bavarian-boerboel.com .The description and history there is very extensiv, detailed and thouroghly researched

The purpose of this breed at a different time and on a different continent in a special social situation is quite another from todays here in Europe.

The fundamentals in a Boerboel we like to preserve and continue are its bond to his family, unconditional loyalty, guarding instinct and sovereignity.

But here in Germany we value its social compatibility much higher than in the land of the Boerboels origins.

Also different from the South African origins is the european aproach of the appearance. In its homeland two types are favoured, the big and massive “Sitstopper “ and the wiry agile “Runner”. We aim for a combination of both; a very athletic “Sitstopper” or a rather muscular “Runner"

Above all comes the health of our dogs wich also means the genetic health. To reduce all genetic failures especially hip-and ellbow dysplasia to a minimum as well as vaginal prolaps and ektropion/entropion of the eyes is the goal of our kennel. Of the same value in our kennel is the character of our dog an overagressiv dog will never be bred by us.

We chose the method of outcrossing for our breeding programm, that means pairing dogs of the lowest degree of family relation to preserve the genetic variety.Only with this breeding method you can preserve the genetic health as well as character and general appearance. We also refuse the so called "Championbreeding", even an absolut top dog should not sire more than 5 litters in a population( Europe/ Southafrica/ USA).Champions which had 20 litters and more reduce the genetic pool and this is highly unfavourable for the breed. The bitch, even in perfect health and with enough rest between matings, should not have more than 4 litters.

According to the rules of the OBVD.eV we will

-Never repeat a mating

-The dog must be 2 years at least when mated

-The bitch has to rest at least one heat between litters

-Limited matings and litters

-Check up and dokumentation of the offspring

These are the regulations we find essential for a successful breeding program.
